In Mackay, the local exhibitions are of excellent standard and quality. A few major exhibitions in the district include the Dysart Arts and Craft Annual Exhibition, the Artists and Arts Exhibition and the Queensland Mining and Engineering Exhibition.

Mackay’s Dysart Arts and Craft Annual Exhibition was established in 1977 and is run completely by volunteers in late May. The main aim of this splendid event is to present the public with a number of talented exhibitions, from all over Queensland. The exhibitors also have an extraordinary selection of quality handmade products available for purchase. Another Mackay exhibition much like the Dysart Arts and Craft Annual Exhibition is the Artists & Arts Exhibition. Held midway through August, this occasion is dedicated to show-piecing artworks from the Mackay Art Society. Art styles include prints, oils and water colours and most are available for viewing and purchase.

Mackay also hosts the Queensland Mining and Engineering (QME) exhibition. Mining and mineral processing sectors are currently very important industries in Queensland, and with 70% being situated in Mackay, the region is the ideal location for the exhibition. This event features products and services aimed at the mining, mineral processing, power generation, sugar processing and metal smelting industries.
